that cam your on about sounds allright , its got big lift for such small revs and comp ill let you know what my machinist says in a few days With a clevo you will need .060'' min coil bind, but I wouldn't go any closer than .080'' personally. I wouldn't mind a bit more info on this extreme ford club of Newie I'm currently building another XE as my last shell got a bit ummmm. fatiuged (I seam welded it & didn't see the crack until the R/H rear door wouldn't close!)

Me again! I just remembered a theory that Glenn D at G-Force once told me. His theory with cams is.
its a windy day and he had the workshop office door only 1/2 open and went to walk into the workshop when suddenly the dood blew closed on him (half way thru it), if the door was fully open he would have made it thru. He put this to practice with the pink 9 sec LC torri by reducing the duration and enlargening the lift and found his 60 ft times were benefiting from the lower down power, he then adjusted the diff ratio to a higher No and gained .2 sec on the 1/4 He's the one that put me on to Johnsons kenny;

I've got a Comp Hydraulic roller in my Cleveland(stock stroke,302 rods, Hypatec Forged pistons).
It's a custom grind 32-000-8. It uses 5.0L style roller lifters with a factory 5.0L spider and dogbones. Cost me about $600 for the cam and $300 for the roller conversion kit which includes Comp lifters,dogbones,spider and hardware. Specs are; .607"/.607" Duration @ .006 is 281/281 Duration @ .050" is 232/232 and it has 108deg lobe separation. I run out of the box CHI EM185 heads with 10.5:1 compression. This cam allows tremendous torque whilst still giving great top end power. I have a butchered Offy Port-o-sonic single plane with EFI. Even with this crappy intake it made a peak of 325rwhp @ only 5800rpm(351rwhp in shootout mode). More impressive is the torque which is flat from 2000rpm to 4800rpm. Driving is much fun with anything other than a gentle squeeze on the throttle resulting in turning the tyres. I recently gave it some shakedown runs at the motorplex with a resultant 13.09 @ 106mph best before they closed the track, all in full street trim(read heavy and tractionless). It has 3.5 gears, 255/45x17 tyres and a wide ratio C4 with stock converter. The beauty of a Hydraulic roller is that it'll allow you to get great power and torque without having to rev the ring out of it and no clearances to set all the bloody time. BTW I'm off to Narrogin Rev Heads this weekend and I may just do burnout or three. Cheers, Pete. |
