You're not the first to come up with the idea and a few of the guys on here know a thing or two about the engines as well
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... light=351w Have a search around coz there's some good info on here about the 351w

Pacemaker XR-Y type Tri-Y 351w headers fit EA-D so it stands to reason they will fit the EL. Only '94 up 5.8 blocks have the taller roller lifter bores.

Thanks for that Pete, That may help cut the cost for my Exhaust. Was qouted 3500 for an exhaust to fit the 351/427 stroker to the EF. Thats almost as much as the motor

I also researched this and found you use a flywheel/flexplate from a clevo. When i start on mine i will be using CHI 2v clevo heads and a dual plane carby intake machined for injectors with a 90 degree elbow for bonnet clearance.

I am considering using a BA-F XR8 bonnet skin & grafting it to the EL bonnet, the vents will stay of a***

Kenny, have you considered just a BA style bonnet bulge on your original bonnet?

It would be interesting to see a photo of that.

I believe I will have to sacrafice a bonnet anyway, so why not start from scratch, the vents will be easy to fit ,but to fit a bulge to the existing bonnet may take a little more work, I will leave that decision to the body shop

Well have a look at mine from the ford V holden drags NSW Curise thread. That is exactly what vic is talking about. Maybe someone from Vic took a photo of mine at the Melb AFD and would be good enough 2 post it up

Yep, there was a photo of your bonnet in the Victorian Cruise section under the Geelong AFD 2006 thread, but the light angle makes it harder to see in full.

In actual fact 351w and Cleveland use the same type of flywheel in terms of imbalance; 28oz. The main concern is of course flexplate/flywheel diameter which is determined by ring gear teeth; 157 or 164. All clevelands had 164T and most but not all 351W's also had 164T. In the end it's a matter of which diameter flywheel suits your bellhousing? Either way make sure that you have the correct 28oz imbalance. Pete. |
