Gday
Im looking at getting electronic ignition pretty soon. Iv been looking at the MSD range and have narrowed it down to a few dizzys. MSD8580 MSD8350 MSD8477. I got the descriptions from http://www.rocketindustries.com.au/desc ... no=MSD8350 Whats the advantage of an ignition controller MSD6430 (6ALN if I was going to get one)? I dont have bucketloads of cash so I was thinking the MSD8350 would be a good choice as it does not need a controller and the curves can be changed, but would one of the other distributors be much better. I dont take my car up the strip and it doesnt see any more than 4500rpm max, mainly just cruising. Thanks

Yeah i agree, MSD is an overkill on a mild engine.
I have said it in another thread, call Paul Turner at Performance Distributors (03) 9467-5028. He's a champion and will do you a good deal, he's known Australia wide, especially in the drag racing scene. |

I've seen quite a few of the sydney-made distributors and they are not a product I would recommend.
Stick with Bosch or the MSD ready-to-run distributor that doesn't need an external box. It will work out much more reliable and cheaper. |

If that is what you believe, good luck to you. I'm talking from personal experience. Perhaps you could put your money into the hard parts and dyno or track test to prove to yourself one way or the other which product line is better. Hearsay is all well and good but facts are much more reliable. |

A mate of mine just came over, he's got a Bosch Electronic dizzy with built in module from an XD/XE Clevo. He took it out of his F100 before he sold it and it was running fine.
If anyone is interested he wants $150 for it. |

Thanks for all the help. I took a look at the MSD ready to run today, a mate can get me a full kit with dizzy, coil, 10mm leads, plugs and installed for less than a grand.
Im still looking at other options though, dont quite have a grand to play with. Mite have to wait for a while till funds permit Why do houses have to be so expensive?
