Hi all.
I nearly finished my little project and have hit a wall. I have put a 351c into a 1990 ford maverick and cannot get it to start. The car 1990 Ford Maverick 4X4, Nissan 4-speed auto, super low stall converter. Gearbox still runs the computer, but computer is not connected to engine at all. The motor 1972 351 2V Cleveland running 302 heads. Compression 12.5:1. Engine blueprinted and balanced, port matched etc. Home made 4-2-1 headers. .030 overbore, and it's a longrod. 600cfm Holley 4 barrel with vac secondaries. The motor turns on the starter fine. The carb is delivering fuel, the Plugs have spark. The coil has 12.09 volts on ignition, 10 volts while cranking. A comp test gave me between 190 and 225 psi. A check on the plugs reveals them to be wet with fuel I have double checked the cam timing, and played with the distributer timing, mixture screws etc. I am at a complete loss. I reckon it's something mindlessly stupid I've missed, but buggered if I know what it is. All help greatly appreciated Cheers, Ric

Is the distributor 180° out of phase?

Nope. Double checked dizzy, definitely have the firing order the right way round and not 180deg out.

Pull a lead off and check you actually have spark.

Spark was weak, and the fancy pants coil I had for it has been cracked. I have redone and checked all the earthing, and a new coil should be here later today. Hope this fixes it
Cheers, Ric
