Hi guy's,
well the 351w build up is coming along nicely. I'm just chasing some pistons atm. Engine will be boosted in the future, so i'm looking for some nice dished pistons. and block will be bored .030". I've been looking at the VPW website, and probe seem to have some good budget pistons. Which one would you guys recommend for future boost with an engine.. http://www.vpw.com.au/productgroup.asp? ... GrpID=3730 There's 6 or so possible candidates... Budget is 5k for the build, which it should just come in under. So far... - $795 bottom-end from Brisbane direct imports. - $280 ARP head studs. - $350 Edelbrock 351w lower intake manifold. - $550 for machining, overbore to .030", deck, new core plugs, cam bearings, and re-tap all threads.

How about the rest of the bits for bottem end???
Cost difference between shot peening standard rods and add ARP2000rod bolts and H beam with ARP2000 rods bolts is only a few hundred. Are ur heads unleaded compatible???

What chamber size are the intended heads?

Heads will be 58cc. i want to run about 8.5 comp ratio. Possibly a little higher. cheers.
So if someone would be so kind as to do the maths for me? The rest of the bottom-end will be kept stock except for a clean up with new bearings. etc.

I have some 0.040" overbore Cometic MLS gaskets which i hope to use. They should be ok with a 0.030" overbore? cheers yawl

If it doesn't sell, i will build it up.
I am using stock cam. It will be seeing boost. that's why only 8.5:1

So you'll need decent rods and pistons then???....plus ARP/SPS bolts/nuts/stud kits.....
What sort of boost pressure you lookin to run??? Carby or injection????......Rootes blower, screw type blower, turbo/s, centrifugal blower?????

injected twin turbo. I'll need decent pistons, which is exactly what i'm trying to price up now.
6-7psi when i get it running, possibly upto 12psi after a good run in and all the issues are sorted. The ARP bolts are taken care of. I'm just looking at the PROBE pistons VPW sell atm. They are aircraft grade aluminium, But i'm not sure if they are the right choice? Forged are fairly expensive, so i'm looking at fairly cheap, decent options. I really need to know what pistons to go with shortly, so i can get the bottom-end back together I'm hoping EBXR8380 will have his say on this, and afew other experience members. cheers.

What about Hyperuetectic pistons????....run around the 16% Silicone mark.
I found this part number for JE Pistons.....0.030" over..JE Pistons Part#: 138722 Product Type: Single Pistons Description: 351 SBF DISH -24cc / 4030-3500-5956-1774 They are 8.7:1 CR with a head cc of 62cc's. Would they do????........everything else seems to be high compression stuff or stroker.

just priced up some pistons from VPW:
Prb-2446f30 forged press pin 15.9cc dish $520.00set Prb-12358-030 forged floating pin 22cc dish $706.00set I'm just unsure it press pin or floating pin would be better? The 22cc dish pistons, seem the way to go?

I don't have prices on that stuff...I don't sell things, I just search for whats available to do the job required, and give you a part number and specs if available, and you can make your choice from there. Its just a guide....thats all......just helping you out a little.

Why dont u work ur way back and approach the engine builder and get a set quote for machining, assmelby, blue printing and then see what u have left over for parts.
Most engine builders charge 5% on top of parts if they get it so covers there time to get them
