Well the time has come for some much needed horsepower for the old girl, as I have become used to the current set up.
Basically I want a car that has no challengers on the street, will make ricers faint from idle, and pull a great skid, in top gear, out of corners @ 100 plus. Its been decided that 600 odd fwhp will give me the jock staining power I need, so it all begins. So far, I have the bottom end bits here, and decided on a set of heads today. The engine will be 383 clevo, 3.750 stroke, 4.030 bore. Heads will be CHI's and cam will be solid mechanical. I will stick up a stack of pics, and step by step progress as it goes along. If anyone wants something really well detailed, or explained, please PM me and I will work on it. Hopefully this should give you some insight into what it takes, both engine and car to get 600 odd horsepower to the ground, and not break everything in the process. |

Im already foaming at the mouth.
I might be doing something similar with the 360 i have. Maybe get it out to 408, edelbrock heads but still undecided. Will be interesting to see how hard she pulls

Block - 4 bolt main studded, 30 over, grout filled to water pump Crank - Scat 4340 Forged no twist 3.750 stroke Rods - Scat 6" H beams Pistons - Arias Forged 1.325 comp height Main girdle ARP head studs Romac balancer Rollmaster chain MSD dizzy MSD digi 6 ignition PWR alloy radiator and today arranged some CHI heads with matching cam for the top. Most likely be running a funnel web manifold after some great advice from a fellow XA owner....just need to get some pics up now of the shopping to date. |

Why not use the matching CHI manifold with the CHI 3V heads? For the horsepower level you are aiming to achieve I'll assume you've secured a set of the 225s.

Because just recently some boys in sydney did a manifold test and found the Funnel Web made more horsepower on a 4V head, as I will be running CHI 4V 228cc heads. The decision to run these was two pronged, but finally came around with a much larger intake selection available to me, as any off the shelf 4V manifold will work. This could come in handy should the tunnel ram route be explored. I went with the 383 over the 393 only because the deal was right, and ten cubes less just means I'll have to rev it harder. |

It should go 600hp or damn close to easy enough. I've got a similar combo but 393 with 3V heads.

351, 4MAB, ARP rod bolts, 2V closed chamber ported heads, HYD cam, 10.6 comp, Edelbrock perf manifold, 750DP. Run 12.9@108 on 245 60 14 T/A's. Has C4 with 2800 conv and 3.7:1 gears. Would run harder on better tyres. Unable to stall up, and massive wheelspin. Its up for grabs if you want it. |
