i have also noticed a ticking coming from around half way up on both sides.

Your not really making much sense. A scream is assumed as a belt slip or something high pitched. Not a thud. :|

cold start it sounded like a spun starter motor about as loud only more high pitch only made this noise once zzzzzzvrrrrchhhdddddreeuwaaa.started ok second on try

it also has a tick on both sides in line with the t/b .
the tick is not evil sounds normal for an injector or hla but i havent .
somtimes wont start in p put in n it starts
the thud is im not convinced is the engine cause it didnt make it before it got new tyres plus i looked and the exhaust and rubbers are perished .
front lower bushes shot, diff bushes shot, steering rack loose, lateral arms shot, missing bump stops, needs wheel alingment

i will have more info this arvo after i drive it round buying parts cheers paul

You must be off your chops mate, because what you're making as much sense as tits on a bull.

Sorry to be abrupt, but I can't understand what you're trying to explain... haha

That's probably the switch that tells it whether it's in P or N and it thinks it isn't in P sometimes, could be from wear or an electrical problem.

As for the knocking, check the exhaust isn't rattling on something, mine used to do it until it warmed up.
