Well i think there were a few FM members who attended the AFF national dyno competition this weekend just past.

Seeing as i didnt have a current graph kicking around, thought i'd post up the result.

And yes - they did misspell my surname :)

In comparison to the old naturally aspirated days:

Runner up in the forced induction class for SA. Out of 2 blown cars :) Congratulations Grant - cant wait to see what the ED pulls when you get the tune sorted!

Nice power!

What happened around 120k's? Wheel spin or tuning?

It would have been tuning. Unfortunately we were mapping boost on the second axis so a/f was not mapped on the graph.

At a guess - it would be the jump in fuel pressure caused by the fuel management unit as boost comes on strong... running a little too rich at that point i imagine.

Good thing about that curve is the area under the curve figure, power shoots up quickly and is above 140rwkw for almost the entire run. The dip is a bit wierd, it may be leaning out before the FMU cuts in, which would make sense seeing it kicks in at around 4psi.

Nice to see you finally got it dyno'd martin! Been hearing about how well it goes from luke.
Got mine dyno'd last week and only got 135.8rwkw, but it is leaning out after 4500rpm.The AFR is going from 14.0 up to 15.0.
Getting it dyno'd at Bill Towlers next thursday to see if power is any different.
Fuel pump & fuel filter have been replaced so i can't work out whats going on.
Any thoughts anyone!!
Cheers,
Dave

Gday dave, i've been keeping an eye out for ya.

Those AFs sound pretty dangerous mate... even 14 is pretty lean for high rpm at wide open throttle, let alone 15... Has it been spitting head gaskets?

Fuel pump and filter are good for getting the fuel up to the motor but you need to get more fuel flowing through the injectors....

Lol - i dont know heaps about the 6 cyls but i know the EF and EL xr6s had a fuel pressure regulator which kept fuel pressure in the rail a bit higher than the standard unit. May give you that extra fuel you need?

Either that or look at a unichip to open up those injectors a bit more...

Grant/Frank/Kurt - thanks for the comments lads. Nah i havent had it down at AIR yet... im always put off by hearing how poorly organised the off street drags are down there.... but hey, there's always Gtech :)

They aren't that bad, its usually the comp cars that cause the problems but you still get a good number of runs if you want to. Hopefully me and a few of the e-series guys will be running in one of the december or january meets, would be good to get your car out there too.

Yeah i've been out to the drags too, and they aren't that bad. I went out when they used to be on wed night and got about 8 runs, and i rocked up at 6 (starts at 5)

Good fun.
