remembering that its running a carby.. thats probably not unfeasable.. would be interesting to see the same test done with other alloy heads in the same class.. trickflow, edelbrock etc just for comparison..

Could that ( 400hp with stock cam) be done with the GT40P head's,in a ED 5.0L? and what would you have to do to achieve it?, any advice i'de love to hear it!!. Cheers Jason. |

I've got an article here some where that has a 400hp EFI 302 running the stock cam. |

Impressive, but the wording "stock cam" is a bit of a misnomer when using 1.7 rockers as that changes the cam timing so it's not really running a "stock cam" per say

Rocker ratio's change lift not timing. But since most advertised duration is at 0.050" then duration might change slightly with a larger ratio set of rockers, but only slightly. |

You cant change cam timing with a rocker ratio change you need an adjustable,multi keyway timing set to change it.And even if you did advance or retard the cam it is most definitely still a stock cam.

I found the article, to correct the power figure first, it was 372hp @ 6100rpm peak torque was 361lb/ft @ 4700rpm. It was based on a 91' mustang GT engine, stock running E7TE heads and HO manifold, the only add on was a set of kooks 1 5/8inch 4into1 headers because thats what the dyno operater had at the time. ECU was an A9L and coil was an MSD blaster3. baseline dyno runs made 251hp @ 5000rpm and 305lb/ft @ 3600rpm they went through a bunch of add ons befor testing the full package. final package was: rebuilt stock short engine. c&l maf edelbrock 70mm TB and EGR spacer ford 1.7:1 cobra rocker arms edelbrock performer rpm2 intake performer rpm heads A9L ecu with SCT chip for tuning. 24lb injectors. a comp cams XE270HR cam made 388hp @ 6000 and 374lb/ft @ 5000rpm. |

still quite impressive.. interesting that they didnt make 400 even with the cam swap.. i guess its a real compliment to the afr heads
