Hi folks,
Has anyone run std windsor head extractors on GT40P heads? If so are there any clearance problems with the almost 90degree spark plug angle of these heads? Cheers, Pete. |

Standard head designed Pacemakers, Genies and HM headers all fit on GT40P's, not sure about other brands though. You also need 90 degree spark plug leads, not the standard 135 degree ones to give more clearance.

Thanks EDXR8, So the pipes don't get in the way of the spark plug ends? Eeeeecelent! Cheers, Pete. |

Theres been lots of discussion on this topic in other threads, and I thought that the headers for the GT40P were different, and that the AU headers didnt clear things in the EB-EL engine bay.

Yeah AU specific headers don't fit in E-series cars, they hit on the shocker tower, but E-series specific headers (designed for stock E7 heads) do work with GT40P heads too (well the ones I listed do). The pipes don't get in the way of the spark plugh ends but they do come pretty close, thats why 90 degree agnled spark plug leads are required. Also removing the spark plugs is difficult in a few of the cylinders, I just modified a spark plug socket a bit to give more clearance when removing them. EDIT: I have uploaded some pics of the E-series pacemakers on my GT40P's, you can clearly see the drivers side isn't too much of an issue. The passesnger side (which I don't have a good photo of) is far tighter but still okay. AU pipes do not hit the towers, the sway bar is in the way, If the E7 pipes fit the GT40's why does pacemakers parts book say they wont? and why do pacemaker themselves say they wont? and if they fit how come every exhaust shop I walk into say they wont? and why did i have to bash the s**t out of the ones I have just to get the plugs in on one side? |

Well you can either agree with the pacemaker book or take some advice from someone who has fitted them. I have used both Genies and currently pacemakers on my GT40P's so thats the proof, also look at the pics I added to my last post. Also the AU style ones I tried did hit the shock tower, the swaybar was fine. |

No clear pics, but I ran the Genies for over a year without any problems. The pacemakers have only been oth there for a short time, clearance is tighter than the Genies but still fine. There is only 1 really tight cylinder and thats the front passenger but you still have enough clearance |

Wow, ok!
Which Genies were u running? Wait. are there different genies available for these engines? Genies came on the engine which I bought. theyre the ones which have a pipe and flange around the steering column. I've got a few options when it comes to buying GT40P's locally.. but i was going off the idea since I wouldnt have headers to suit, and I was thinking of going for the GT40Y's which will bolt up (and alloy is cheaper to ship from the US! lol)

I assume the lead will sit on the pipe (the plug part of the lead) |

Tight to get the plug in and out with a socket, the leads don't sit on the pipe otherwise they would burn in a couple of days. I just took some far better pics with leads on and will post in a minute or two. |

Believe me they dont burn, I think I have about 3 or 4 touching the pipes now |
