What are you comparing it to. I consider my fairmont slow compared to the 351 XT ute I use to have.

Is that el a v8 sounds like a 6 with a cannon (joking mate don't listen to those other cont's each to their own. Don't be afraid to be different). My fairmont v8 goes like a GLI 6 because it is heavier and the fairlane is heavier again.

If you are talking stock E series V8 Fairlane they are pretty slow, when they are healthy they are a little quicker off the mark then a I6 Fairlane of the same model but not much in it, after that they are pretty close, sometimes the I6 is faster overall.
The big difference is low down torque, a 5.0L and a 4.0L around for a while and not like a d***head, the 5.0L is much nicer, it is not until you flog the 5.0L that you find out they are not to quick in standard form.

I have a stocko fairlane 5lt, 215k on the clock, I find it's a pig to about 3krpm then it sings right thru to 4800-4900rpm...
The weight and diff ratio aren't the best.. |

the good thing is, not much is needed to get the party going... whack on some GT40p heads, explorer intake, ECU, exhaust, extractors and you have 200kw or more. Mine chews BA G220s, older gen 3 statos etc and thats probably because the tare weight of my car is 1675kgs compared to the 1890 or so that the BA Fairlane has.
But yes in stock terms, the NL 165kw fairlane isn't much chop. If it was 300kg less that would be a different story, but sometimes fancy features cost performance thats why the Dodge viper initially didn't have aircon and power windows
