How do the manual 5.0L box cars perform? I know they are reasonably sluggish and all but what sorta 1/4 mile would I be looking at for a stock boxcar XR8 and EF/EL XR8?
Im contemplating selling the mont and buying either a boosted boxcar or a 5.0L but I don't want to end up in a V8 that goes like s**t and costs a fortune to modify (I already know that)

A manual EL XR8 (series 1) will pull a 15.2 with an exhaust and headers.
Get a series 2 and it should be flat 15 or sub 14. Stay away from the auto's they kill the power and speed of these things. |

Yeh im definately not buying an auto. I should be able to pickup a cheap 5.0L falcon because my best mates dad owns a used car yard and deals in alot of commo and falc 5.0L's. A few months back he had an awesome fully kitted EL2 XR8 with sunroof and 5spd I could have had for $7500
I might just sit tight and wait for him to get something.

Yeah a Series 2 with sunroof and full kit would be a good buy for $7,500.
If you can wait around for something like that, then do it. Especially if you can save some coin in doing so. Also, even if the 8 is slower than a 6, trust me, you wont care one bit. Once you drive one, you'll know what i mean. |
