I leave the NL is economy when racing - no good valve bouncing before changing gears - you are allready dropping power by that stage. I spent a lot of time on th Gtech Pro-Comp and worked out optimal launch RPM and shift points.

Whats your best technique for launch?
I find it hard to launch the fbt as you said it doesnt take off like a rocket s**t, it either bogs down n revs out slow or i get too much wheel spin; its pretty inconsistant i think too, sometimes it goes and others it feels slow no matter what lol.
One thing ive noted is i get best accel off the line at about half throttle for 1 sec then go for it, but other than that i give up, if you put it down right away its like its confused for a sec lol.

Your NL isnt quite stock thou now is it, coughBLOWERcough, no wonder the fbt feels slow to you.
Fastest car ive ever driven, bar a ba xr8 for 5 min, but nothing over 2.5rpm. :(

The NL is still completely stock bar the AU snorkle, herrod intake pipe and K&N filter. It is just a freak car.

Im not calling you a LIAR shane hehehe, coz i know yopu know your v8s, but the monty i drove was a real pos, my guess is its fooked then, as it certainly had no chance of spinning any wheels haha. Dunno whatswrong with it, not that i really care, so long as my car runs fine.

It must have been shagged, my 5L is ridiculous when it comes to traction. Only now with 8" wheels and really good tyres can I get anything close to a decent start.

Could have been, i honestly didnt look at kms of it, i only drove it coz i was being nosey n the salesman walked up n said "take her for a quick drive" lol, i didnt say anything about what i owned..
It was in good condit tho in and out, not great but good for a 10 y/o car.

What makes the fbt so fkn dead off the line then; its an animal over 40km/hr :!:

In comparison to the I6 I wouldn't buy the V8 again.. Unless I had some serious money to replace everything. :? :x

Haha, now you tell me!

Nah, in all seriousness it beats the pants off my i6, im very happy and sound is awesome - plus the power from 2.5-4k rpm is insane compared to an i6. 8-)

Shane yeah its pretty good for 550,000km!!!

The FBT may carry some pretty sever torque tags to reduce low end torque like the AUv8's are plauged with.

All i know is I have an i6 EL Futura and a friend has an EF XR8. Both 5 speeds. I have a 3.25 diff, he has a3.45 diff. Over the same 1/8th drag strip I have beaten his best et. When we raced together, I even had 1-2mph on him too.

the V8 has grunt and a nice note compared to a i6 with a 2inch exhuast plus with the V8 it feels nice and tuff to drive as the i6 can feel like a boat, personally I think ford set up the V8's better as not many are produced compared to the i6.
