G'day,
This is to all EF, EL and XH 5.0L owners as you are the only ones with the appropriate temp guage. Just wondering where abouts your needle sits on the guage at your average operating temperature. Use the letters N,O,R,M,A,L as that are on the guage as the guide as to where the needle sits.
Cheers Guys, Jeff

Very rare to exceed the R section. Flogging the car up a long steep hill she gets a bit warm, i use the diagnostic readout from the odo... doesnt go above 95.... usually sits around 80...

Mine sits on the bottom line below L, doesn't get above that unless i'm sitting still in traffic for long periods.

yeh aftermarket thermostats are colder than the ford spec ones.. i gonna change to a fordy one at some point to see how it goes.

but yeh with the coldies, its on the bottom edge of normal.. cept on super hot days or after a burnout. where it might go to the A momentarily..

the A is still less than 90 degrees, where the bottom edge is 80.

I've got a lower temp thermostat and mine sits on L or just below.
I got it from BPT motorsport.

Mine sits on M unless it's over 45deg, then it might rise to R.

Everyday driving mine sits around the O for city driving, highway it goes down to A/L. Keep in mind though Darwin has hot weather and I only have one working thermo fan - I'd say thats pretty good. When I go to drive through it goes up above the N - 105 degrees but it has never overheated. I've taken it drag racing done burnouts and it copes well!

Yep , mine is a bottom liner as well... Seems to be the go from what I am seeing here. I always thought mine was running a bit cold , but now i feel better.

I have never had any grunt or sound problems so never really thought about it too much , ... but if it ain't broke , I aint gunna fix it... 8-)

A and L. Not sure why, but mine does get higher than that, but only during the summer and you're sitting in peak hour traffic with the air con on.

My needle seems to fluctuate like crazy - goes from the top of the M to the top of the L, thinking it may be a bit dodgy, changes between these two extremes in minutes if that, my coolant has a lot of crap in it (prev owner ran it without inhibitor by the look of it - all brown) though so im thinking thats messing with the sensor and thinking a new one might be the go.
