the boss motors are 260kw, unless your thinking of the 3 valve which is a barra motor (230kw i think)

its so worth it they are unique in so many ways and seeing that i have spent over $10,000 on it for respray,el xr font, ba bonnet bulge, sports hard lid, mags, stereo, and body kit coming why stop there. i will try and post some photos soon. i am one of the most dedicated ford fans eva but the only good au is the T model and the rest i hope i never see again.

Yep thats doable and much easier than the XG or earlier.
Personally I'd use the 3V engine.

I'd hardly call a torque monster like the 3V rubbish...
3V's make the same torque than a 4V and at lower rpm!
Just a few simple external mods make them dip into the low 13's and that's in a heavy BA!
Turbo 6......Boring!

why??? When a cheaper & simpler to fit 500hp 418ci Windsor crate motor would leave even the boss 290 for dead. Better yet, build a REAL Boss.

oy steady on... the only thing most people didn't like about the au's was the looks, and its dead easy to make an au look good - and mechanically theres no question that they're superior to the older models (standard with half-decent gt40p heads for a start)...
i was fixed on buying a s2 EL xr8 and after a lot of searching i ended up driving one and then the same day drove the ex-cop au2 forte v8. the au was cheaper and infinitely better to drive - until then i didn't think i liked au's either, but i bought it and i love it... I owned an E series (ef mont) for 6 years so i've spent enough time in them to appreciate the difference.

As for this topic, sure a boss in your car would be awesome, but i'd reckon spending the same amount on a windsor would give you something even better i'm sure...

Geoff

Whilst I agree that a big inch windsor or cleveland or even a Boss9 would be f**k excellent! It is unlikely one would pass an emissions test without one hell of a lot of work(or you could just do it and not tell anyone  ).
So a modular engine is actually a good choice in this regard. Of course it doesn't have to be a 5.4. You could use a 4.6 3V from the new stang or an '03-'04 Cobra supercharged 4.6 DOHC engine.
These create less clearance problems due to the shorter deck height yet still have enormous potential for performance. The blown Cobra engine is such a strong engine compared to any 5.4 it's bordering on the ridiculous....try 800 rwhp without going inside the engine! They have a very strong Iron block, steel crank,Manley forged rods and forged pistons as standard and make up to 600 rwhp with the stock M112 blower and other external to the engine mods. Switch to an Autorotor or Whipple blower and 800rwhp is just a given.
