Hey Guys,
Looking for a cam to for my LTD. Stock Exploder/GT40P. Recently aquired 1.7 RR's and some Pacemaker PH4006's. Not planning anything further, just looking for some good tyre frying streetable power, I'm no Dyno queen. The 2031 comes to mind straight away.. but perhaps there might be some other options out there. Cheers

E303 / crane 2040 is another poular choice.
I have a comp cam XE270HR in mine, nice cam too.

If tyre-frying mid-range torque is what ur after then the 2040(E-303) is your friend.
Other wise if you want something abit more auto-friendly try the Crow 621371 with your 1.7 rockers.

The F303 is a good drivable cam also..
More lift.. Better with aftermarket heads..

the cam's you have all stated, are they stock bottom end freindly? (no notching of piston's ) etc.
i've had a set of 3.89's in my car for a couple of week's & on the street are great! but on the track i'm driving through the meat of the stock cam, an upgrade was already on the card's but with "waggin" i'm looking for a cam that is "daily freindly" & will do allright it the track time stakes. |

The E303/Crane 2040 really works best with a small high stall (~2500) and 3.45 type gears. It gives really good mid-range power. For great off idle torque & HP in an auto without a high stall I'd consider the Comp XE264HR.

Thanks for the tips guy. So the 2031 should be crossed off the list?
I'm also having a look at the Wade options - but I haven't heard of anyone on here running any Wade cams in the 302's. Something like their 222/222 @0.050" 0.297"/0.296" ex/in lift 112 lobe separation.

That wade one is very low on the lift side of things.
I have tried both the B303 & E303 on mild engines. Still have them infact. The E is a good progressive cam with low down grunt and a nice idle note. The B is a bit lumpier at idle and has a less low down grunt off idle compared to the E but really comes to life as the revs start to climb and is going real hard at about 3,500-4,000 rpm. A little stally may be required if you want to go real hard off the mark.

The lift for the wade is at the lobe. Works out to 0.500"ish with 1.7:1 rockers which i figured should be sufficient.
So i guess im leaning to the E303 at the moment

I'd stay with the stock cam or the XE264 as the bottle man says.
Here's the specs; http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/CamDe ... =1059&sb=2 |

After sticking an auto behind my Ecammed windsor, I was suprised that the stock torqu convertor accepted it and the drive quality wasn't badly affected. Actually the idle lope was more pronounced with a flexplate and torque convertor than a steel flywheel and a cranky ECU.

Imo the 2031 is less aggressive than E303 cam..
112 LSA over 110 .. With better heads the extra lift of the 2031 should out power the E303..
