PM sexyr6 (Chris). He stroked the 5.0 in his EB Ghia wagon so he will be able to help you with the info you require.

How reliable it is depends on how much of a Wombatt you are (spelling intentional. Op should get the reference)

Yeah, as Brett says, reliability will come down to simply how well you screw it together.

But as an indication for you, I am getting a 347 built right now. The builders are so confident of reliability they are offering a 24 month warranty!! Nothing wrong with that.

Mine is costing me about $5400 to be put together, I would do it myself, but the cost was so close to that of the builders, I thought I would let them do it.

Im waiting for the quote to come back from your builder Dave about something for mine.
The jury is still out on whether to go the 347 or up the ante and jump into a 408 if I build a motor.
The extra engineering costs and the cost of a 351 roller block when put together come so close to the cost of a Dart SHP that I can beat on all the time and wont hurt it ever.
The only concern I have with the combo they are talking about putting together is they seem to use eagle gear. By some reports its the poor brother to Scat gear. But its something that needs to be looked further into.

Pavtek use eagle gear in their stroker motors so it's not all that bad.

Im more then happy to find out the truth about it all. As I said its something to be looked into.
If I do go down this path I will be doing lots of research first as Dave did before jumping in with his.
I know as much as I was wanting to do it before I wont be going the Fordstrokers route.
Yes the price is right and the quality is there by all accounts but by the time you take the currency conversion , freight and customs duties , GST etc into account there is close to $2500 up in smoke.
So there is no real financial saving over getting it done in Australia , many thousands of km between myself and warranty backup and sending more Australian jobs offshore.
Not going to happen.

Just checked out the Pavtek site and in the 347's they have listed that they use Scat gear?

i have heard depending what manufacturer does the crank the rod bolts can hit the block when stroked, so if you get someone to do it make sure they check the clearance and shave the block a little when they do it, keep us updated i have a 302 out of a EF sitting on my shed floor to put in my NC wanting to stroke it aswell but funds have said no so far
