i had my stock EB XR8 manual dynoed with no mufflers thru a std zorst and headers and got 182hp @ the wheels, since then i've done thermo's and underdrive pullies. It'll be up bout the 200hp now.

Other than thermo's and underdrive pullies it is completely stock

If you have an automatic transmission you can roughly calculate your rear wheel kilowatts by subtracting between 25% to 30% from your flywheel kilowatt figure.

Yeah what vic said... the hp/kw thing works as there's about 30% conversion factor... i.e. kw * 1.314 = hp...

Doesnt really hold true for high hp motors.... but a good yardstick

these figures are a bit of a shock....they arent much better than the 4.olt......i would have thought the 5.0lt had a bit more stick...

Damn there's some old threads being dragged up!

Yeah death, kw figures arent huge for the 8s.... but look at the power under the curve. Plenty of torque :)

Managed only 236 rwhp the other nite ED auto 5.0L.

Mods are: GT40P ex TE50 stroker/ 1.72 RR/ Crane 2031 cam/ Edlebrock Performer Inlet/ 70mm BBK TB/ 75mm ProM MAF/ 24lb inj/ Pacemakers into single 2 1/2" / 3.7 LSD/ ELXR8 snorkel + 3" hole in bottom of airbox/ Underspeed pullies/ EL Thermos/ ACL Race Series pistons bearings etc and tunnel bored and balanced bottom end./ TweecerRT for the tuning.

Half thinking of porting the heads to within an inch of their lives - am told can be ported to produce around 250hp and maybe use thinner head gasket to increase comp ratio. Have considered Edlebrock RPM heads but would lose bottom end.

Want to get most out of NA 5.0L as daily driver but I think I am running out of options.

Richie

Mine got 124rwkW, basically stock motor with Zorst.

You need to not be so fixed on mine got this, yours got that. Especially with different dynos as previously mentioned. Another thing is atmospheric conditions. I really think temp and humidity need to be printed on dyno charts so you can get a decent comparison before and after mods, and thats really all a dyno is designed to be used for (along with load testing diagnostics).

Get a dry 40*C day and your power will be s**t. Get a raining 15*C day and your car will go like crazy.

I fly light aircraft, and you'd suprised how much effect temperature has on performance. This is both on engine and airframe.

Dont worry about those KW figures to much as most of us V8 owners know te TORQUE of the 5.0L will eat the I6.
