Did any of the plugs have a totally different colour, rust, oil etc on it?

Next I would try a compression test, then get back to us, as it sounds like you have ruled out ignition or fuel system.

You could have something as simple as a bent push rod so don't panic yet.

make sure the oil isn't ice coffee. mind you, having just put gtp's on mine, removing and replacing heads is not a major task once you know how. 1st time was a learning experience but if i had to do it again it would be much quicker.

if it is a gasket, graphite ones set me back $45 and crack test is about $40 as well for both.

no need for panic just yet though.

if you are looking at doing heads, i cam accross these on ebay. sorry to anyone who is watching this item but it won't come up if you just search for gt40p's if that is what you search for.

he claims they are au2 which makes them gtp's. obviously you would want to confirm that first and i would try not to draw attention to the gtp markings as when i was looking, there were quite a few wreckers who were not aware gtp's were on all au's and not just xr's.

they have a slightly bigger intake valve and apparently are much better flowing. some minor port work can really improve them again, esp on the exhaust side. to get the maximum benefit from the heads you really need the explorer upper and lower intake as well as the ho manifold simply does not supply enough air.

with mine i made an extra 4.4rwkw at peak and up to 7kw at other areas in the power curve, over the e7's i took off although the e7's i had on were ported and may even have been faced. i'm still running ho manifold though which is holding back the full potential.

Sounds like a broken valve spring dude (reasonably common). They do exactly that and the coil pack drops two cylinders the one with the problem and the one diagnally opposite on the coil pack.
of course I could be wrong and i hope I am but they are cheap to buy and easy to replace
