Howdy All,
Just a quick question... I currently have a single 2.5 inch exhaust system in my AUII XR8 - upgrading it and was wondering what system people are runing on their 5ltrs?? Was thinking either 3inch single or even 2.25/2.5 dual system (x membered)... Any experience will be welcomed... was thinking $400.00 should cover it?? Regards,

I think it would be a bit over $400. I got a quote once for mild steel and one for stainless and the difference was only about $150 so I would go the stainless when you decide what exhaust system you get.

I'm actually going for a 2.5 inch on my AU Fairlane, but i'll be looking at free flowing mufflers, that'll cost me around $400.
Exhausts aren't cheap anymore mate, i can send you to a top guy if you're in the Airport West area... He'll be doing mine in the next couple of weeks. |

I think 3-inch is too big for a 5ltr, unless it's fully worked. I find that they drone too much and bug me, just my personal opinion though. I think dual 2-inch or 2.25-inch would be great.
If memory serves, dual 2.25 equals the same as single 3 inch anwyay, in terms of total exhaust size. |

Yer I agree.. wasn't a real fan of the 3inch single option myself either - just not happy with the old single two and half dog out the back... Need something to compliment my headers... so was thinking dual 2.5inch down into 2.25inch x membered - then out the rear.. should hopefully waken up the old girl again!! So If i can get this done for like $480.00 I'm laughing??

i have twin cats into single 3" system, single muffler and rear resonator. not exactly droney but it is loudish but in a good way. i occaisonally take the missus and my daughter in my car and they don't complain about the noise so its not that bad. not sure if it makes a lot of difference to the sound but mine is cammed with some porting in the heads and intake and it sounds pretty tough if i do say so myself

some of them had a twin 2inch for stock.. ie sprints or something..
for twin 2.25 from cats back, including mufflers and x pipe, i was quoted $850, for my EL.. thats custom, ie every join welded manually.

I got quoted $380 for twin 2 1/4 inch to diff then 2 1/2 over diff then twins pipes or 2 1/2 out the back for my lane which i thought was pretty good after reading quotes off here.
And no i cant get twins the whole way without going under the diff which aint happenin.so will proberbly get this setup with 2 weeks.

I've got twin 2.25, over the diff. Cost me $1500 with Pacey PH4000 supplied and fitted as well ($800 odd?).
Twins on E-series get tight above the diff (mine hits the floor pan with superlows) but it is possible. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either lazy, a crap welder or has no clue. |
