hey guys and gals,

I have acces to an EL 5.0 litre motor, gearbox, ecu, all looms, dash, tailshaft, fuel lines, basically evrything thats different on the 8 from the 6! it will be going into my EF Fairmont Ghia! The person i will be getting the stuff off is fairly good at mechanics and knows his fords extremely well, he says it is a fairly low cost and straight forward conversion! is this correct? Also do i have to change any of the underbody parts like suspension mounts, k frame, or crossmembers? My diff is up to the task (3.45lsd) and will be getting 3.9's and a nice tighten up! so yeh any advice and help i can get will be greatly appreciated!

cheers, dave!

ive done the same conversion but with a EB i put every part from a DC LTD in it and that took me and my brother 9 days straight from early till late im pretty sure that the el would be similer so you will have to change over the k frame to the v8 one, crossmember same thing but with the diff im not 100% sure because with mine the 6 diff is different to the v8 diff where the tailshaft bolts up so i had to change that to but i dont know about ef-el. one last thing if you want to get rid of any diff or diff gears please let me know what ratio and we'll go on from there.

x member and stuff like that dosn't need to be changed, as you have a ef you will most likely find that you'll have to change over all the dash looms as I found when i went from el to ef the shape of the engine loom is diffrent to the other, other then that. get started well worth it, not a "hard" job just time consuming took us around 3 full days but we ended up pulling the dash out a couple of times which added a bit of time in.

Good luck take lots of photos keep us up to date if you go ahead.
