I have an '83 LTD with the 6cyl EFI motor, i am putting a V8 clevo into it, i know you can change these to V8 with no hassles but only if the original 6cyl was also carby, but as mine is originally EFI i can't go back to a carby motor, is this right??? i was told i can get defected for having a carby motor in it, but how would they know it was originally EFI, the vin won't tell them this??? any help please.

but to an un trained un familiar mechanic or police man they would have no idea or way to know if it was a v8 or 6 cyl originally..
the vin and compliance don't specifically show what it is without research. |

the only way a cop will work it out is if its still registered as a 6 cyl...

its easy to get it changed and registered as a V8 with no hassles, my concern is that coz i'm going from efi to carby i can get defected? is this right.

it will be fine, its pre 86 so its originally leaded and don't run catalytic converters. and 83 model v8 ltd and xe v8 ran carbi anyway...

In fact you should be able to put a Holley carb on it because you can't get Carter Thermoquads anymore.
