hi all.

after taking out the MAF on my EB V8 to clean it the otehr day i decided that it was horribly small and needs replacing.

do the 89-95 mustang units (70mm 19lb) that you see kicking around on ebay bolt and wire straight up?

if so what will be the benifit? will the computer crack the sads without a tune and run badly or will there be a power / economy improvement without a tune?

Hey
I don't know that you would notice too much with out a tune. Though if you are after one I have a AU 70mm that I will need to get rid of in the next week or two as well as the 65mm throttle body from an AU as well

You can see a benefit by putting the AU maf in. As far as I know, the stock tune runs a bit rich so by putting the larger maf in, you're getting more air in when the ecu thinks it's still getting the same amount of air from the original maf, leaning the mix out a bit. Be careful though, as you don't want it too lean. It may pay to throw it on a dyno, just to be sure it's still safe.

No that was thrown away a while ago! Sorry. Why don't you do a custom alloy pipe?

'86-'95 mustang MAF's are the same 55mm unit that you have on the Falcon.
Only '93,'94, and '95 Mustang Cobra's got the 70mm unit which is identical to the one used on EB GT and ED sprint.
Factory MAF's are not calibrated to suit a certain injector size, it is the EEC that is calibrated with the MAF transfer function and the injector size.
Aftermarket MAF manufacturers often "calibrate" their MAF's to suit a certain injector size. What this means is they tweak the voltage from the MAF so that the EEC opens the injectors approximately the right amount for the size injector you have.
As the guys have said...grab a 70 off an AU and fit your electronics to it.
