Id go with the EB mont if it were in tip top shape. well as good as can be expected. Gives you most dosh to toy around with in a car that drives well. plus the blocks are a bit stronger in the earlier 5.0ltr motors than say an au 5.0ltr. Ford trimmed the blocks back real far by the AU to save weight and some people found that the AU 5ltr couldnt handle the more powerfull mods the earlier ones could. Not all but some. obviously the tickies were a bit tougher.

ditto on the manual bit. and a 3.77 diff. plus the ussual engine bits. will be a screamer. and no one will expect it out of a 92/93 Monty :D

the suprise factor alone will be worth the money you part with.

Boxcar ghia with a GT or Moffat kit, zorst and maybe even a tweecer should still leave fair change from 9k and be a pretty solid and light base to work with.

My old man is pushing me to get an AU Fairmont ghia but most of those were I6 VCT motors. I'm stinging to get my a*** into a V8 falcon when the time is right.

What are you saying...the Tickford 5.0L blocks are stronger than the non-Tickford blocks? I dont think so.

The earlier blocks are stronger but the E-Series are still the weaker late model roller blocks. I think you would need to go to the early 70's before you would find a stronger/beefier 302w block.

Get an EB XR8 or Monty and spend some dollars on the donk. That money should also get you an AU V8....the motor is much better in the AU (better heads, intake, tb, MAF, injectors), not to mention should be younger and in better condition.

The AU motor can make some great power with just a cam (and pipes if its a non-XR).

Has Pete started to crack AU ECU's to be TWEECER tunable yet? If so then better off getting an AU V8.

A NF or NL Fairlane would be good.

NIce interiors, low km's, middle aged- elderly drivers so it wouldnt be thrashed.

Just needs a bit of oomph!

Sorry, silly question to most, but what do the abbreviations NF and NL mean?
I assume they are refering to the EF and EL respectively somehow :)
Thanks
Matt
(No question too stupid) ;)

N meaning Fairlane or Fairlane Ghia while the D prefix refers to a Ford LTD.
