Hey guys. havnt posted in yonks. Im looking to buy a 92 (EA, EB?) Fairmont 5.0 litre v8 as a project car. Just had a few questions about the engines in these cars. are they a windsor 302? or clevelands? also, is it the same engine that was in the XR8's or different?

What tendsto go wrong in the Fairmont v8's? the one im looking at appears to be in prety good nick. Floor it and the wheels light up. was actually pretty surprised.

any help appreciated

They're a Windsor motor, and identical to the XR8 motors.
If you're happy with the rest of the car, the motor would be down the bottom of the list of things to worry about. If she runs well and isn't blowing a heap of smoke, or making any weird noises, then it will more than likely give you no trouble for years to come.
