ok it has reared its ugly head again, the car is as standard as the day it came out, no mods
have spent over 2500 in the last six months on this big b**ch.. problem is, if you put your foot to the floor,, there is no gear change(to a lower gear) speed will rise to about 120-130kmph. revs @ approx 3-3500 rpm and will not go any higher, if you slightly back of. then it goes like it just hit boost and screams along? also find that if i put my foot to the floor (at slower speed). will get a big miss for half a second or so if i accelerate gradually 9 times outa 10 it wont do it, each time its been to the mechanics its been fine for a month or two.. near feels like your driving a car with a cold motor and it chokes when you put your foot into it, but do find first thing in the morning. with temp in the motor it goes rather hard, but later in the day just dosnt seem to have the power?... dont wanna spend any more money on the turd, but next try will be a auto electrician or trans service |

probably something wrong/misadjusted on the TPS for the trans computer, trans issue.
or, just these things aren't terribly quick in any way shape or form. Dynoed mine yesterday for laughs. peaks @ 3100rpm (lol @ 6200rpm limiter, as if it'd even get there)

If you're handy with a multimeter you can check the TPS yourself.. lots of information for TPS can be found in this thread; ford-v8-f2/adjusting-base-idle-and-setting-t-p-s-voltage-t56990.html

Peak should be at 5200 or so. |

my 6cyl with a few mods like pod filter & extractors made 140RWKW.
Seriously there's something wrong if your not getting any more out of a V8 |

cheers for all the input guys!
had a warm day in Hobart today, got to 25-26 degrees!... left work at 4pm today, went through town. Had air con pumping.. after an hour of cruising around, i noticed temp gauge was a bit higher than normal... after seeing temp gauge i started to pay attention.... then noticed oil pressure gauge moving up and down?????? as i left town, on the mission home i had the power of a 2cyl? Had to pass a hill/highway climb on way home. Car was struggling to pull 80kmph up hill? Limped home with cars following me for once.... Made it home, was very frustrated, rang the RACT. After the car sat for 30-45 minutes they turned up.. do you think they could find anything wrong?? (once been sitting for 30-45mins was fine?) |

sounding like a fuel pump.
Had that happen to me in my (unfotunately) short lived NL Fairlane. it had acted up a few times, but always came good. one day (unfortunately I was half way around Lake George, 100km from anywhere), when it died completely. car ran like it had 2 cyl for a bit, couldn't even keep speed on flat highway, then it died, and wouldn't restart. bashing the fuel tank got it to go for a bit, but it was gone. Thankfully it's not to expensive a repair, kinda a bastard job though.
