Really won't give you all that much unless you have decent heads and intake as they are a bigger restriction than the cam, and even then the results would be small. Also if you are at that point, it would only take another few minutes to actually swap the cam over for something larger.

Get a nine keyway cog and a dial guage and dial it in for specified lift at nominated degree. just advancing for the hell of it is so hit and miss. A dialed in cam gives marked efficiency over a standard fitment.

The factory cams have pretty good grinding tollerances, all the ones I have seen are pretty much spot on. The only reason why they would be out is if the cam grinder stuffs up the grind. |

Retarding the cam will shift the peak torque rpm up, and advance will lower the rpm where your toque peaks.
I would try only a couple of degrees at a time. Instead of mucking around doing that you would probably be better off replacing the cam with a tried and proven one setting as the manufacturer specifies.

^ what he said.. while you're there just stick another one in.. but then thats no point with the stock heads/intake..
as axr88u said, it'l just shift your peak torque/power up n down the rev range. it wont give you any more or less(unless you go over about 6 degrees, thats about the limit apparently).
