hey everyone
I'm planning a conversion for my 72' v6 gt, windsor 302 with a supra 5 speed, i already have the box with custom dellow bellhousing for the 302w. what i'd love is any advice on doing the conversion. I hear you can use the bronco sump to clear the x-member, or get a custom job. Also planning on going with the borg warner lsd from the eb-on falcon pref ute to retain leaf springs and are 28spline. brake and suspension kits i have found (hopper stoppers and capri clinic (in WA), I want to have everything in place before starting the work to try and keep time off the road down, hence any information on the following would be great, speedo cables, hydraulic clutch set-up, brake master cylinder (has to be 1" apparently for hopper stopper kit), radiator, fan (electric?), wiring (ez-wiring kit maybe?) anything else that may be needed as this is my first attempt at any type of conversion. any advice will be greatly appreciated Cheers Cliff |

I'm currently doing a 302w conversion in my MKII capri.. can't help much with the g/box as I'm running a C4.
My mistakes so far include: buying a 5.0i engine which wan't an HO.. and came with all the rubbish bits (crap pistons, crap heads, cam etc) buying capri 302 extractors from Castlemaine.. they crap for the money compared with what I could have got made locally (NZ) porting E6 heads when I thought they were E7's (see other thread) Buying new hydralic lifters for a fortune when they can be found cheap off the internet. Thats about it, working on the radiator situation at the moment. I've been told the other way to keep a V8 capri cool is a custom 3 or 4 core V8 radiator with twin 16" thermo fans.. Most V8 radiators are too tall to fit into the narrow nose of the capri.. if you find one that fits let me know Oh and apparently a 4cly b/booster is best for clearance. |

Here's some pics of my mates' 5.0 Capri.
You can see the adaptation of factory V8 mounts and the Falcon style clutch cable and dellow bellhousing that was specially cast for this combo. The calipers are PBR HJ items with adpators and Falcon discs. It uses a 1" landrover master cyl I believe. It's a custom front sump. |

Just out of curiosity what is the weight difference between the v6 and v8?

I have read that due to the thin walls in the block the 302 they are about the same..
