Here's one for you.

I have an annoying noise coming from my intake - AU2 XR8.

I have ported the upper/lower, and have also modded the MAF (kostecki CNC shaved that internal spine). But now have noticed this annoying noise.

Could it be becuase of the change in the vortex characteristics that is making this? It only happens at idle, and if i blip the throttle it goes.

Another reason may be the K&N filter may need changing (yes, i have cleaned it) as it is about 5 years old.

any takers?

I took the filter out, and drove around (quite lightly mind you), and it didn't do it. Its the filter me thinks. Either that or lack of the filter may have changed the vortex again.

I will have to try a new filter. May need replacing anyway - 5 years old.

It could very well be just the volume of air that is flowing at idle with the air filter in passing something and creating the noise, just at that point. Maybe a new filter will flow slightly differently, enough to change the velocity so you don't get the noise. Then again, it may not.

Do you have a standard throttle body? I have an aftermarket one which is known to cause a whislte at idle, and that it does! It's just a matter of smoothinig the edges around the isc ports but I haven't gotten around to it yet. If yours is aftermarket, this could be your problem as well.
