Thats a good point that you make, but that little bit of money that a cat cost's is a little bit of money that I don't have, it's also one more thing on the car to go wrong.
And although cats get rid of hydrocarbons and other environmental nasties they cant stop c02 which is the big killer.

It would be interesting to see how long it takes for urea injection to be compulsory on all diesel's though.

Fair call, if you can't afford it & it's not required, don't bother. There's big stocks of nearly new cat's from written off commodores over here in wrecking yards, one of them is more than large enough for my mighty boy project.

Urea injection is in use on a lot of new Diesel buses over here right now. It's amazing the difference it makes!

Cheers

WTF????? I know they are Australian design rules but what? they don't apply at all in NZ?? Thats it, I'm moving !! Seriously, what if the cops were to go thru your car? They won't go all crazy and defect the crap out of it? I had no idea at all that there was anywhere on the planet that you could still do this?

The population is so small over there that cat's & emissions rules wouldn't make too big of a difference, so why bother?

There would still be some design rules that need to be adhered to, but they would be NZ local rules unless there is some weird law that states they just use ADR's....

Cheers
