go and buy the proper tools if you can, theres a large spanner for the nut and another tool that holds the water pump pulley bolts, takes 2 minutes with these tools.

For I6 = Left = Left hand thread. ie its tightened by turning it left, the opposite to most nuts and bolts.
If you want to undo it, you want to turn it right.

{USERNAME} wrote: go and buy the proper tools if you can, theres a large spanner for the nut and another tool that holds the water pump pulley bolts, takes 2 minutes with these tools. i did mine not long ago, tried doing it by jamming in screw drivers and other methods, in the end i made up the tool (dimensions are in the manual i have) and bought a 36mm open/ring spanner, cost me about $60 for the spanner and once i had those two it took literally 2 mins to get it off, once you crack the nut you just turn the fan to undo it the rest of the way(a good dose of wb40 will help too), same with putting back on, spin the fan give a pinch with the tool and spanner and the engine will tighten it the rest of the way.

Duuuuude! Remove the radiator, you can just lift the radiator out the top (straight up, hoses removed), then the shroud comes out. Free access to the fan.
