hay evry1, just purchased au pursuit 250. only done 55,000km and in mint condition. just a bit sluggish. any ideas how i can get around 350rwhp. dont wana change to much but was thinkn good exhaust, tune, injectors and fuel pump? also is there any problems i should look out for?

Your not going to get a whole lot more from the standard bottom end without it going bang to my understanding. Maybe a tune but thats about it unless you want to get a Dart block.
This is my basic understandning, others feel free to correct me.

Naturally aspirated. 350rwhp isn't much of an increase over stock on these motors!

The US rule-of-thumb is that a 5.0 block is good to 400fwhp. The more you push past this, the more likely the block will fail in the main webs. However adding a main girdle raises the stock capability of the block, and I believe girdles were part of the engine upgrade package for the 5.6's. But verify this yourself as I haven't personally pulled one apart to confirm. Some girdles like DSS are very good (650HP potential claimed).
A blower would be my choice as the heads are already getting close to their potential at the factory 335fwhp. Upgrading the heads leads to a whole lot of other costs that may as well go into the blower, and keeps the car's everyday driving like stock

Congrats on the purchase - very nice! I also have a 5.6 and it has some slightly better items and a tune over the stock T3 motor and I'm currently sitting on 300rwhp. There is a little more in it with my parts but not a lot. From what I read of other owner's efforts, both here and mostly in the U.S., it's 500fwhp that the stock block can handle before the block lets go from either natural casting limitations, a bad tune, a bad engine build, sustained high rpm or a combination of these four factors.

Yep.. Ford say 450 "continuous duty" on roller block...
500 h.p run every now and then... But some blocks fail well under 500 h.p.. Possibly due to abuse and bad tune!!! 50oz internal balance doesn't help in higher rpm... A girdle just keeps assembly from emptying on the road when block fails...

Exactly, some roller blocks do fail at less than 500HP. That is where the rule-of-thumb comes from. A block failure at less than 400HP is virtually unheard of for any reason excluding complete incompetance. Push above this and the casting & machining quality (or lack thereof) lead to increasing rates of failure almost always in the main web. The further the block is pushed, the greater the failure rate. I'm sure that some production blocks run fine at 500HP, but not all will cope with this. The 400HP rule is an approx end to the "100% safety zone" rather than an absolute maximum capability. Revs also play a part You are getting mixed up with the B50 block which was rated by Ford to 450HP @ 6000rpm due to the previously higher rating (500HP from memory) not being met, the A50 production block was rated to 400HP. I have the cylinder block page from an old Ford racing catalog in front of me. Girdles stop the main caps walking (moving) which is what causes the main web to fatigue and crack.
