Still deciding on a cam setup. Currently assessing the pros and cons of the #621371 hyd. roller from crow with the spring, lifter and roller chain kit to go with. Also think that the 1.6:1 bolt-on Street Terra Rollers will mean I can keep the original valve covers too.
Just need a good shop in Perth to fit and tune it for me. Thanks for all your help guys ! I will let you know the final result. |

the comp cams range are nice quality aswell. they have done quite a bit of research on the ford 5.0L for the mustang guys.
have a look at their website. i actually have the camquest software where you plug in engine/car specs and it comes up with best fit cams. if you want, i can do it for you. just need all veh details, inc. weight, diff ratio, engine stats. be specific, even down to flow data of heads personally i am going for the Xe270HR and dble springs + rollmaster chain + YT 1.73 RR.

Sounds like a tough combo.
Someone I spoke to said an AU TE50 cam would be a good cam swap too from the 220kw models. Is this a hyd. roller cam or a solid cam? |

All AU v8s are hydraulic roller cams made from solid billet steel. they are a HO block mate. If ya gonna do cam change dont f**k with second hand s**t (te50 cam). pretty sure there a e303 cam(motorsport cam).like everyone says, crane, isky, comp. I have 2031 with the conical single springs, ported gt40ps, flash tune, paceys, yella terra r.r.s. pushing out 220rwkws and is good smooth power down low and up to 5000rpm. It is so much different to drive (heaps of grunt) compared to when i bought it new in 2002.
P.S. be very fussy with valve/ rocker geometry when setting up. this will help with spring life cam life etc. done 15000kms with conical springs and not a drama and have hit some big revs along the way

agree with chrisredden. if you want to go elcheapo wack in the T3 cam, but i think you will be dissapointed after all that trouble of a cam swap. the TFS S1 or S2 are good cams aswell. if you stick around 218 - 224, should have a good streetable cam. remember to use parts to compliment each other.
good thing about roller cam chnge is not so much emphasis on run in, and depending on kms, lifters and bearings are normally still good. its surprising they don't use the roller bearing technology on mains? anyone know? i know 2S outboard motors use them...why they rev so freely.
