Damn... I was quietly watching that manifold on ebay without telling anyone...

is the pintel end of the injector on the au 19lb injectors the same as e-series? in other words will the e-series injectors and fuel rail fit on the explorer manifold? the one on ebay has the injectors in it but i maynot need them if they originals fit ok.
4.9 ef futura, i have a ultrasonic injector cleaner and flow tester at my workshop, i have just cleaned my e-series injectors, they came up really good.

I am running the stock EB injectors with an explorer manifold.

the au injectors are 24 pound, blue top, i just hard wired em in and it worked a treat. i was running the au maf with the eb eletronics on it, and the au tb, on the dyno i had a a/f ratio of 13.05, pretty close to perfect.

Amazed that you got good AF ratios, didn't think the EEC would able to trim out the difference from the 24lb injectors and the MAF which is calibrated for 19lb injectors. |

nah the AU MAF is basically calibrated the same as the E-series one, so without EEC modification it is a pretty good match for 19lb injectors. |

That was my manifold on eBay... have another set with heaps of extras (including the throttle body, wiring loom etc) if anyone is interested. Will not go so cheaply though.

how big is the Throttle body and what do you want for it?

As far as I know it is the 65mm as the AUs. However, I am selling the whole lot as a set.

Or are the MAFs similar, with calibration being accounted for in EEC?

As far as I knew the AU MAFs were all the same with the injector sizing catered for by the EEC.

if the holley systemax lower (300-73S) to suit the ho upper is any good, that would be the way to go IMO, & they use the stock componentry. great for a stealth mod. http://www.holley.com/hioctn/ProdLine/P ... 0-73S.html Hume Perfprmance in nsw has em for less than $500 i think, & rocket can get em for around that price too i suspect. bear in mind that the e7te heads only flow a max of 166cfm @.450" lift anyway (AFR articles), so either the ho/holley or an explorer will get the most that is possible from those heads if they remain unported. See now this is quite interesting - that the lower inlet manifold is the restrictive part of the HO manifold altogether. Now with the suggestion above of the Holley lower inlet attached to the HO upper inlet manifold, would the flow be equivalent to the Explorer manifold? If yes then I'd be quite happy to look into this for my car. Another question, I cannot remember whether the stock E-series TB is 55mm or 58mm. Can someone enlighten me which it is? And finally, would the 65mm TB that was fitted to the FBT's, EL GT's and the AU's fit the stock HO manifold without having to port the upper HO inlet at all or would you have to port it?

Have seen a heavily ported HO manifold (lower) replaced with an Explorer manifold and there is simply no comparison... HO won't get close. If you turn over both a HO and an Explorer upper and compare them there are still huge restrictions in the HO design - the initial throat for one is a shocker on the HO. Pics and some more info here - {DESCRIPTION}.
I though the e-series throttle bodies were about 58/60mm (measuring at the butterfly) - not 100% sure though. As far as I know the EGR does need to be honed to fit a 65mm throttle body (assume the hole in the HO upper does too). Last edited by AUGhiaV8 on Thu Apr 21, 2005 5:54 pm, edited 2 times in total. |
