Hey guys, i have just taken the inlet manifold off of my nf v8 to clean the injectors and do the rocker cover gasket and am thinking of changing the inlet manifold. does the au manifold bolt straight on? also has anyone fitted the ford motorsport polished rocker covers to late 302.

im about to fit the ford motorsport rocker covers soon, if you get the right ones they should bolt on alright, and look very nice too.

It will "bolt on" if you change the upper and lower manifold (and most likely a different gasket but someone here will be able to clarify for you).

You will need to adress the intake air temp sensor - E series V8s have this tapped into the HO manifold (runner no 5 IIRC) whereas AU has them in the intake plumbing. Also need to be aware that AU does not have provisions within the manifold for EGR....

4.9 EF Futura pretty much sums it up. Gaskets are the same, just use the felpro 1250 gasket. As said the AU manifold doesn't have EGR ports so just hook the EGR solenoid up as usual, it just won't function (not a major problem although you may have to back off the timing a couple of degrees if you get some pinging). And the ACT sensor will either have to be tapped into the AU number 5 runner or an easier solution is just to mount it in the intake piping or even in the airbox itself. Worth the effort IMO if you can get the manifold cheap because the stock HO manifold is the biggest restriction on the engine.

As for the rocker covers, they will fit but some are specified for use in EFI cars, they have the crankcase vent pipe attachment but thats not really needed.

Most I see seem to go for $6-700 which is a good deal IMO, they flow quite well and should support up to 200rwkw.

Can you beleive some went on eBay for ~$400-500 ? It was Explorer Manifold (upper and lower), fuel rails, injectors, 65mm throttle body.. the lot!

:(

the the ho upper is not the restriction, it's the lower. see here (2. intake flow rates) http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=334773
if the holley systemax lower (300-73S) to suit the ho upper is any good, that would be the way to go IMO, & they use the stock componentry. great for a stealth mod.
http://www.holley.com/hioctn/ProdLine/P ... 0-73S.html Hume Perfprmance in nsw has em for less than $500 i think, & rocket can get em for around that price too i suspect.
bear in mind that the e7te heads only flow a max of 166cfm @.450" lift anyway (AFR articles), so either the ho/holley or an explorer will get the most that is possible from those heads if they remain unported.

Yeah, 19 pound injectors. would be good to have sent off for a clean/flow test.

Very reasonable price assuming the bidding doesnt get out of hand. Very reasonable indeed.

The Au injectors have a different plug on them, and converting to e-series plug is normally too expensive.

So E-series 19lb are the same as AU-series 19lb correct? For yobbo found the difference between 19 and 24 iirc.

Well same flow rates but different injectors with different plugs.
