I'm slowly improving my daily driver and ever since I bought it, I've been unimpressed by how it sounds.

Out of necessity, last year sometime, I replaced the stock 2 1/4" exhaust with a Redback 2 1/2" catback sports exhaust. Even though the resonator and muffler were essentially empty, they've gone and made the car even quieter!

What I'd like to do is, budget permitting, install a new set of catalytic converters and a twinpipe system. I can't find any information about the process though. Do I need two resonators, mufflers etc? Is a H crossover or an X crossover more beneficial? Ideal pipe diameter? Would shortening the pipe change anything? (if I decide to make side exhausts or something crazy like that)
Should I coat my existing 4-2-1 extractors in ceramic?
Aluminium, or stainless steel? (Does stainless weld? How do I weld aluminium?)

I know my way around a spanner, but thats about it.

Also, I'm looking for a throatier sound, not excessively louder. I don't think my neighbors would appreciate me waking them up at 5:00am to the equivalent of a Boeing 737.

I've read a few good comments about this system:

With regard to the extractors, a set of Pacemakers will let the engine breath better along with some hi-flow cats. I bought a set of Hurricane Headers and got them ceramic coated inside and out for $350. The ceramic coating is more durable than paint, reduces heat in the engine bay and doesn't allow rust spots to form (unless it gets chipped).

Thanks for the links!

Its not exactly what I was looking at (I'm interested in creating the system myself, or as much as I can) but its perfect for what I wanted to know.

I keep forgetting youtube and ebay make excellent resources for information.
This 'project' won't be happening until at least December, but this will definitely be a big help in preparing.

E: After more research, I may be able to get away with just a muffler delete. It seems to be my biggest restriction.

No, but the workshop where I work does and my boss lets me use anything within reason.

Thanks for the link by the way, I couldn't find any other threads - too many results in different threads.

No worries. I've got my own TIG and I really enjoy making my own exhaust. I use 304 because I don't see the point of using steel when you put all that work into it. I'm
