Ive had abit of a search i did find one thread but i think it would have to be dumbed down for me, when it comes to timing i have no idea.
Since ive owned my ute its had a slight squeak which i always thought was just a pulley. After changing water pump and the top idler puller ive learnt that the squeak seems to be coming from the cam sensor.... Has anyone else had this problem?? I realise the cam sensor consists of a sensor on top and a gear drive like thing underneath where the dizzy gear would be on the older motors. If i were to change both the sensor and gear does it have to be re timed or is it a simple install. From what ive heard the timing case has to be removed and possibly motor out, is this true?? |

Yep its a common problem.
It will sound like you have a canary under the bonnet singing away when its playing up. It is no harder then changing a distributor. You buy the new Cam Sync Sendor from Rock Auto in the US. It comes with the correct tool to line it all up properly. Whoever told you the story about pulling the motor down either had their hand on it or just wanted to rape you some serious coin.
