The au v8 is running rather badly. It doesn't want to idel and when it is running it make a popping sound from the exhaust. I'm guessing it's a timing issue but could be wrong. Any ideas on what it is or how to fix it?

Disconnect the oxygen sensors and take it for a drive and see how you go. Mine had a similar issue.

If that doesn't work, reconnect the oxygen sensors and disconnect the MAF sensor and do the same thing.

The same thing happened with my ED 5.0.
It idled rough, popped through the exhaust while driving, revs dropped when accelerating, and shuddered at speed.
I bought some MAF sensor cleaner and cleaned the MAF (didn't touch anything else) and it fixed it right up!
