Hi
There is no pinging or detonation issues I am running 98 ron the base timing is set to about 34 I am happy with the power gains from 2800rpm and up but it is still a bit sluggish down low I am hoping that the new MAF ,injectors and chip will take care of that. The power steering pipe and hose had to be modified I had the top pipe of the AU set up connected to the existing hoses if you are going to do this get a hydraulic shop to do it for you I tried to do it my self and only managed to cover the engine bay with fluid. The transplant took 3 days 2 days for the motor out and in and 1 day tidying things up. The power steering held me up for two weeks as I had to wait for the hose to be repaired before I could work on the tuning of the motor this is something that needs to be done before you start. Hind sight is great. Cheers |

It's much easier to just swap over the entire front dress, then everything just bolts up and plugs in as it did on the original motor. The timing cover does not even need to be changed (so no oil leak problems) but the balancer does. I have heard (not personally verified) that the AU waterpump & pulley will work with E-series front dress so the swap is super-easy. Just the two accessory brackets, alternator, PS pump, A/C pump, balancer & pulley, and maybe the waterpump & pulley.

Just a quick up date.
I was having trouble with starting the engine after the new motor went in It turned out to be the AU Auto harness witch looks the same as the EL one has 1 wire that is different in the plugs and will stop the engine from starting. I have rewired the plugs and it starts fine now. I went to a auto sparky to start with he cut in a earth to the Auto harness which got me going but I lost gear selection and could only use drive and reverse on the Auto. |
