Am I right in assuming lsd problem?
If not, what would cause shuddering as releasing clutch in first and reverse ? When the clutch released, and gears engaged no shudder occurs. |

Have you got a standard clutch? I installed a ceramic cushion button clutch and get the same thing if I don't give it some revs taking off. It's possible the previous owner installed a 'non-standard' clutch. Try using some more revs and see what happens.

The previous owner had a clutch kit installed 11 months and 8000km ago, receipt doesn't mention what type.a
Edit; I rang the mechanic that did the install, he doesn't know what type, as owner ordered online, (haven't met owner, purchased from his parents, they don't know either) Receipt does mention slight heat cracks in flywheel, possible cause? Assuming it is ceramic clutch, how do you reverse out of driveway safely without wearing out clutch with excessive slipping? Slow gridlock traffic won't be good either |

That way you only go through your garage door if you get it wrong..... and leave a bit of a gap when in bumper to bumper traffic. I usually coast the car in traffic or reversing out.

Update: Did a major service and tune, engine running smooth. Enjoying the car.
Have gotten used to the clutch now, and the diff is actually decent. When I did buy it, I knew I would need to put some cash into it, to bring it back up to new condition. That is replace bushes, steering rack, and fix exhaust. (Has only done 160 000 kms) So I took it into pedders to fix some drivetrain components, was expecting maximum cost of about $1500 Quote next post... |

you will find only half that stuff really needs replacing, the steering rack is way over priced, you could get a rack supplied and fitted for $500..
wheel bearings and hubs are only $100 .. complete lower control arms with new ball joints and bushes can be brought for $250 each... pedders are a rip off.... |

I like how they add "This car is NOT SAFE to drive" alongside the $4309 quote The multiple brand new company cars parked outside suddenly made sense. I will definitely be getting some work done, just exploring my options now, and hopefully done this week, as everybody will be closed soon. |
