Hi, what do I have to do to fit a AU2 XR8 throttle body up to my el v8?
I measured the throttle body, its 65mm on the side closest to the manifold, and the maf side is about 70mm. So i got no idea, im guessing its a 65mm throttle body? Is this what AU2 XR8's had? lol I believe i have to drill the holes so I can fit up my eseries TPS, is there anything else? I have read about changing voltages etc somewhere before, but i dont have a clue if i need to do this, or even how to do it. Anyone able to give a few basic steps to fitting this thing up ? Thanks guys, Steve |

Yes, it's an AU 65mm t/body. Just use a drill bit to widen the mounting holes as the bigger throttle bodies have a slightly wider mounting. Bolts are a slightly different size also.
You'll need to twist the TPS slightly until voltage is just under 1v. There's not much to it but if you are looking for more detail a search should reap plenty. |

with the multimeter chuck the red lead in one of the wires (can't remember which one - it's either the green or brown i think) and earth the black one to the chasis of the car. You have to push the multimeter needle end thing down into the rubber casing of the tps plugs to get a reading from the wire. Loosen one of the screws on the tps and while at idle move it left and right until you get about 0.9 - 0.95 volts.
you have to use the tps off your old throttle body cause au's have single tps and e series have dual, one for ecu and one for trans. You need to get the voltage for both of them right on and once you've done that then tighten the screws. the hole will have to be elongated a fair bit, but its only necessary to do one, probably the one closest to the firewall. |

You rock mate. I knew you would save me.
I know how to use a mutimeter, just didnt know wtf i was poking it at lol. Youve helped allot. Im guessing im going to have to get the EGR spacer milled out a bit to suit this throttle body? |

yeah eventually, but remember the maf is only 55mm so until you upgrade that it is still equivalent.....all in good time

haha, brett, learning from the best
what maf did you get? is it for 19 or 24lb injectors? another 2 weeks and it should be 100%. Got the unichip (thanks again brett) which has to be installed and tuned, chasing up an egr spacer and will cut speed holes in the airbox....apart from that 180rwkw shouldn't be too far away at all.....can't wait. Also got underdrives to go on!! |

Massive thread mine I know but hopefully you fellas can help me out.
Hi just after a bit of help. I have an el xr8. I got myself a few bits and pieces off an AU xr8 bigger maf housing, upper and lower intake mani and the 70mm throttle body. I read that you can put the 70mm on as long as you bolt on all the el sensors etc and adjust the voltage on the tps to around 0.98v on idle by elongating the holes on the tps and turning it (Right to increase voltage and left to decrease) My issue is that it now seems that when I attach the accelerator cable linkage it seem to hold the throttle open as if the cable is too long so when I pull it back the cable and attach it to the butterfly it’s holding the pedal down and giving me high idle I left the egr spacer as the el one but looped the two coolant lines together and plugged the two holes with vacuum blankers Should I have put the AU egr spacer on? Is it because of what I did to egr and ran the coolant lines together and capped the holes on egr? |

It's not the EGR causing that.
I did have a 70mm Au TB on my NL but I don't recall the throttle cable being any sort of issue. |
