What about a B+M Megashifter into an EF auto?

If they come in with a 4spd shift pattern they can be adapted to work yes.

Have to agree with you there aaron, They are rubbish things. I had quicksilver in a couple of cars and whilst they work they certainly don't have a quality feel to them. The knob used to rip off for a start. Pete. |

a B&M shifter can't make your car faster and it certainly cannot make your shifts any harder. This is pure marketing b u l l s h i t.
The only reason you would fit one in a cer is for the flexibility to mount the shifter in a non-stock location due to the cable type operation. Save the $300 for rego/insurance/tyres.

Yuo must have literally abused the damn thing pretty hard for the knob to come off.

Nope it came off from new. It's because the knob is made of cheap plastic with a threaded metal insert. Of course the metal insert rips straight out when you lift the knob to get it into gear. B&M = cheap nastiness. Pete. |

my mate has a b&m quiksilver shifter in his HJ 308 ute and i can testify as to the weakness of that knob, luckily the 5spd patterned knob from his corolla fits, 5spd b&m shifter now

Yeah I machined up a nice ally knob for mine, chucked the big box away and put a leather boot around the base. It looked like it was manual after that which, I suppose it was with a manual valve body.

What shifter did or do you have? Can't say I've had that problem with my quicksilver shifter. If it's not shifting smoothly you've done something wrong. Maybe the cable hole in the floor isn't big enough or the cable is twisted around on a wierd angle. A mate of mines had a Megashifter and it was difficult to shift. Snapped a few cables and ripped the shift knob off it. The hole he had in the floor was too small. It sort of kinked the cable. He also had the cable routed wrongly. It's supposed to run in a looped fashion. Once we did that it was smooth as silk. He got me to have a look at his after driving my XB with the quicksilver. My quicksilver also shifts as smooth as silk. I've even modded mine fron 3/4spd to a 2spd shifter. To give you some idea on the description on smooth as silk? My 4yo son can shift it effortlessly.
