Madman, the hole in the genset bell is what the U.S. applications use for their engine side(similar to our smallblock starter posi) starter location. The Falcon uses a bellhousing mounted starter that goes in through the side of the passenger side of the bellhousing. Depends where you have the most room as to what you would use. I would probably modify this dellow thing you refer to accept the U.S. style starter/position.
Below is the only 4V 5.4 to use in a 4wd. It's the Lincoln Navigator engine. It's long runner intake makes for greatly improved low end torque. Trouble is, the engine is so damn high it's unlikely to fit many engine bays. Otherwise you could make a longer runner version of the Boss intake. |

yeah I knew that the new motors had the starter on the passenger side so got a new two bolt starter to bolt up to the dellows bell housing so thats covered. but doubt that I can get a Lincon motor cheap..

Yeah I guess with a 4WD is important to keep the wheels from spining and the lower end torque is better than High end but in saying that I have a super charger for the 5.4 so torque accross the range will be good too. |

F the 10 year old 5 l is so good why did ford change and bring out a new motor

Because the 302 Windsor (5L) is now 50 years old. The actual casting of the 302 finished in the late 90's, Ford Aus had to get the modular right to bring it into production. A 3V 5.4 is a better driving motor than the Boss.

Plus the modular design means more interchangeabilty between engines making for lower production costs. What sort of supercharger madman?...you need a positive displacement type to fix the torque problem these have. |
