So my Monty s**t itself the other day, turns out to be the ECU and they seem to be non-existent to replace.
To repair, re-program and install I am looking at $1500 which is a bit compared to the value of the car. I was under the impression that you could just grab an ECU from another V8 Monty and chuck it in but the bloke from the Eleco reckons thats not the case. Anyone know much about how these thigs work and could shed some more light on that? (Not that I have had any luck even finding one anyway) The car is my baby so I guess I'll do it, just somewhat annoying... |

Car still being s**t so now turning the connectors, loom, etc. Will update once the issue has been found. |

If you PCM is 100% good and fault lie elsewhere , did you use a scantool before removing the PCM out of the car? see what codes may have been logged? I know it's no help as you have said your PCM is good so far the people that are check it for you, by the way there is a PCM on ebay at the moment robbos auto parts and panels has one for sale. Will be interesting to see what the fault turns out to be! cheers

Update: This was the ECU, massive issues back and forth with the guys doing the repair and program in Brisbane. They found some bad solder joints which were fine on the bench but back in the car would screw up with movement.
Once that was fixed it has been good until today, died again and now when you go to start it, all electronics are on but no kick. Tried bypassing the starter relay and got it to kick but no fuel. I think the ECU has some major issues, if anyone has a spare let me know, I think I need to just go with a freshy. Cheers |

Cheers bugga!. can the PCM software be uploaded to another PCM?. seems the BA PCM's were 'slightly' prone to failure from new ... no idea why tho. the PCM on mine comes up as a 2006 with the car a 2003 as is the rest of the electronics where as another BA has everything as 2003/2004? [that car is 2004]. i'm referring to the Barra 6 not the V8. |

So I managed to get FORscan and it gave me a bit of info, maybe thinking my cluster is s**t or the BCM. I do notice weird ticking sounds from behind the dash now and then, never sure what they were.

Hi.
i think you need to ask questions on Ford Forums, not sure in which section but have put up a general link for the workshop - {DESCRIPTION} or the main page - {DESCRIPTION} there are more people there with more knowledge etc than what are here. Cheers |
