Can anyone tell me if there was ever a recall by Ford to replace chain guides in the BA XR8.
I had heard they repalced the plastic chain guides with another type but cannot find the information anywhere. The reason I ask is my car is in the dealer now and they have found remnants of the guide in the sump so it has to be replaced anyway (done 290 000 kms) just hoping there may have been some truth in the recall roumour. |

From what I understand, they never did a recall. If you ask anyone at Ford, it's not a common problem, just like the radiator splitting in the BAs and contaminating the trans fluid. If the issue was brought up within the warranty period, Ford would generally get it in and replace the 2 plastic tensioners with the new steel ones they started to use later down the track. If outside of the warranty period, you're on your own.

If I were you, I would contact your local Ford dealer and ask them if your vehicle is covered to have this done. |
