Just wondering what you guys get as a realistic average for fuel consumption in a BA XR8, either how many k's to a tank or litres per 100k's. Just weighing up whether i can afford to drive an 8 over a 6. Thanks

BA xr8's suck on fuel economy. I get 14.7 out of my 220kw xr8 around town wih a heavy right foot.

Even though I dont drive an xr8, I assume the fuel consumption in my 5.4L would be the same though. I have only had the car 2 days, so been driving it with a bit of a lead foot, being my first v8 trip computer averaged me at 11.2, hwy and city driving, but I dont think that is even close, as my fuel needle was going down and down much quicker then my old 4L.
And then last night, I somehow managed to do 159km's on a lil over quarter tank. However filled up the tank today 68 litres, my range read 548km's to the tank, which seems more accurate then the DTE in the AU. xcrushxkillxdestroyx way I see it is if you get one first few months you will have a lead foot and be spending alot on fuel, but having alot of fun too. If it becomes unbearable you can always convert it to LPG for $4200 to help cut the costs down a bit. |

At the end of the day if fuel economy is a consideration you have to factor in when buying a car, Then you really shouldnt consider a v8.

I was driving around a BA XR8 ute for a few weeks, averaging around 18L/100 (had work done to it). In my BA 5.4ltr ute im averaging 18.4L/100 (also work done to it). But if i drive sensibly i get around 14-15L/100 city driving, 9-10L/100 hwy and about 12-13L/100 mixed. So overall it works out more economical than my old ED
