I would say Twin 2¼ or 2½- inch pipes myself

A custom tune wouldn’t go astray ether

Don’t the XR8’s come with a K&N filter from factory?

Have a look at the quickest Boss engined BA/BF Falcons and you'll find them running Bluepower airboxes and Di Fillipo headers with very few exceptions...

Single 2.5" sounds small...smaller than the stock zorst even?

standard is twin 2 1/4" from what i remember. single 2.5" sounds better but there's better options out there, just depends how much you wanna spend on it

hey guys, I have only made a few small mods & a custom tune edit & I have just over 350hp at the wheels, the main things that I found to get big gains from are a BMC pod filter with custom made cold air intake, a mandrel bent single 3" exhaust, an 82mm TB, colder thermostat and still running the standard headers (for just 1 more week) I have looked at a few different brands/types, and will be settling on a set of HM stainless interference type, they seemed to give the best low rpm advantage, where the BOSS engine is a little bit ordinary.
hope that can help out , kenny

yep kenny's pretty much right which what his done, for a BOSS engine you wouldn't put a 2.5 inch single system on, i'd go a single 3 inch....if we are talking about single systems anyway, 2.5 is to restrictive IMo for one of those engines, 2.5 inch exhuasts get restrictive after about 170 RWKW and BOSS engines put out more then that factory, so point of a BOSS engine with a 2.5?....well....POINTLESS!, lol...well not for performance anyway

Get a flasher unit and custom tune with Pacemaker extractors and single 3".
You'll be very suprised with the power increase.

if you have tuned using a flasher, try fitting a set of NGK TR6 plugs with a .036-.040 gap. Iridium plugs have a lot of resistance & the factory coils aren't that strong, it doesn't work in every case, but for $35 a set it worth a try.
The factory BOSS 260 has only got a 70mm throttle body, which will breath OK, but an 82mm does improve WOT power, you just have to use less throttle at low rpm as it reduces torque, another quik gain is the to reduce the engine temp a little (I am running about 78deg). I found another gain when I used FUCHS 10-40 oil, don't be tempted to use 10-30 as it is too thin for this motor, and you will use too much oil. I have a custom cold air intake which was cheap power, alloy flywheel will improve responce as will under drive pulleys, I am running 42lb injectors for a future plan.
there are other little tricks that cost almost nothing, but you should do before/after readings one at a time, as its easy to go backwards.
hope you benefit from this cheers kenny
