I had this problem with my BA XR8 (2004) and it took ages to fix (6 months). Two dealers kept saying no fault found. I went to Dynotune and they suspected a coil but didn't fix it. I took it back to a different dealer and told then to run tests to find one faulty coil. 1st visit was no fault found. But they changed out a full new set (<5,000km) of NGK Iridium plugs back to Mortorcraft when I told them not to touch the plugs! When I insisted that it must be a coil, they did more tests and guess what - there was a faulty coil! Fitted one new coil and she has run smooth ever since. Good luck with getting rid of your dying coil.

Hi there thanks a bunch for every ones input and helping me but still no go got all coils tested and they tested them for a while and got them warm or working temp and they all tested fine so they canceled them out. It's still running rich and rough vaccume pressure is good, something to do with oxygen sensors they are in closed loop and not cycling, or something and there for not making it run properly but the are brand new so can some one help if the can as to what makes the sensors not cycle, really starting to get p****d off had my ute. For about 3 weeks since November

Have you got the fault codes from it?

So how do you know the HEGO's are not cycling or that the PCM is in closed loop?

hi there can any one tell me or explain why the piston rings will stick inside the ring grooves. when i stripped my motor i noticed that on one side all the rings were tightly stuck in the grooves but not the other side, this will lower then allow the cylinder to leak making a lack of compression wouldnt it?

When you say "side" do you mean one side of the piston or one side of the engine? If it's one side of the engine..is it the side of cyls 1,2 and 3?
That can be caused by a lean condition or a rich condition but most likely lean. What do the piston tops and lands look like? I've also seen stuck gudgeon pins caused by over fueling.

Gee thank for the tip mate. Damn wish I knew this about a week ago I had all that apart checking the timing gear

Sounds like my problem so how did you fix it? Just tighten the harmonic balancer bolt up? Or is there a different way to do it? Thanks heaps for your help.
