every now and then when you plant it it backfires into the arbox, it dont do it all the time just every now and then, wat could be making it do this ?.

do you think its bad fuel or plugs and leads. i just installed a new airfilter, the plugs and leads are as they were when i got the car.

it only started doing this coming back from the Big reds car show in penrith the other weekend.

Can be low - sh fuel pressure... Does it happen when you first open throttle ???
Also check that EGR is working as it should???
Air leaks between maf and engine can to this also...
Unmetered air...
Check plugs & leads ..
Clean maf...

i hope someone does a doco about backfire through the inlet manifold someday cos even tho i dont understand why, our EB was doing the same thing and even tho it didnt happen all the time it was still annoying. just touching the excellerator sometimes would cause detonation. i tried everything from new vacuum hoses, new spark plugs, new distributor cap, new rotor key, changed the air filter, timing check (perfect), air fuel ratio (perfect), even a new coil. but in the end just replacing with 9mm plug leads made it run like a new car.

like i said i dont understand why, cos both valves are closed between compression, spark and combustion but it still happened. lol
