I was told it was getting to the shop next week - so hopefully it will be here in 2 weeks. I am not holding my breath though.
Good to hear from you Sean - been strange without you chatting to me. Grant, I still haven't received any hard information (sizes, port runner cc's, cfm flow capability etc) but if it makes more power than the Cobra on a 331 stroker - it would seem it is a shorter runner intake.

Shane - dont you ever sleep?!?!?
Hurry up and get it, I wanna see what it can do. I still rekon the RMP2 looks better, but this one has definatly got me intrigued.

Apparently he hasn't even got his yet, which was meant to come months ago.

If you've got a bit of spare time have a read of the thread on corral by the guy doing all the testing for BBK.
http://www.corral.net/forums/showthread ... ght=intake Or if you dont have heaps of time - read pages 10 and 11 for the latest.

No - the manifolds are still getting their final cnc programs worked out - I have been assured the final version will be lighter than the Performer RPM2 so that means a little bit more weight off the front end. I am certainly hanging out for mine to arrive so I can
1. See how well it fits in the Falcons 2. See what it will do over the HO and Explorer on a 5.0 3. See what it will do over the Trickflow R on my 347 Shane

I've seen some tests already....doesn't look to perform any better than the other mild street intakes out there. In some cases it does a little worse.
Shane, I think your R-series TFS will out perform it in the upper end of the rpm range. Personally I think it's good value when you consider it comes with rails. I'd still use a Holley over all of em but then I don't mind a drivers side t-body. Cheers, Pete. |

Pete,
the tests I have seen have all been done of fairly broad descriptions - but the thing that amazed me was how bad the TrickFlow street manifold went - actually losing power to the Cobra. The fact that it comes with the fuel rails is definately a bonus for the price ( I hope to land them for under $1k) which puts the price right there with the track heat manifold. The manifold that was tested was also the first "pre-production" peice that is also out-dated to the final machined version so hopefully they will get some more flow out of it. Shane

Yep not surprised about the trickflow intake. I worked on a Sprint once and the guy had been "hyped" into buying a trickflow intake. He switched back to stock again and picked up the performance everywhere.
What are they changing from Pre to post production pieces? Will the same test be run all over again or will they just test the post production piece by itself? Pete. |

Pete,
the final peice will still look like the one that has been advertised - only the internal machining is changing. The preproduction manifold has been removed from Bryans mustang (331 stroker) and the final version is too go on very soon for the final testing & PR issues. As soon as it lands here I will show you what it is like. As far as the Trickflow R beating the BBK SSI up high - witht he size of the ports on the Trickflow it would seem unreasonable for anything this side of a Victor Jnr manifold outflowing it - what I would like to see from the SSI is more low down torque so I don't have to rev the ring out of the stroker. If it slots in nicely between the Explorer and Trickflow it will make the motor (more pertanant - the block) last a little longer as I wont have to use the mamoth revs the Trickflow R will need. Internal machining? as in runner design? or just nc port openings?
It would take more than some detail changes at the port openings to make a difference I'm sure you'd agree. Yes I agree the Victor EFI or Holley would be a match for the upper end of the R series and this is what I mean't when I mentioned it....not knowing you wanted a milder/torquey stroker. The Holley would let you have your cake and eat it too because it would make the high rpm power yet keep all your low end torque...of course you have switch sides with it. It'll be interesting to see how the BBK goes on some other tests. What cam and compression are you running in your engine and what t-body? Cheers, Pete. |

The thing with a straight runner design like the BBK is that the internals can be machined/ported fairly easily as there are very few corners to deal with.
Cam on mine is Competition Cams XE282HR with 1.7 roller rockers rather than 1.6's to get me right up to the .600" lift range to suit the AFR 185 heads (.650" lift would be better but the XE282HR is about right on the rev range I want to use - being auto limited to 2500rpm stall converter before dreaded limp home mode comes in) Compression is around 10.9 with the SRP pistons Shane
